Kuku Emir-Usein Kemalovich

Kuku Emir-Usein Kemalovich, born June 26, 1976. Resident of Yalta. Before his arrest, he worked as a specialist in the center for information and logistical support of the Yalta mayor's office. Member of the Contact Group on Human Rights. Before the annexation of Crimea, he fought for the preservation of the Crimean Tatar cemetery and was involved in monitoring cases of discrimination against Muslims. Since 2014, he has been involved in helping Crimean political prisoners and searching for missing people, and was the organiser of a rally in memory of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 2014. Married, has two children.

Sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony with restriction of freedom for a term of 1 year after release under Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation"), Part 1 of Article 30, Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for the violent seizure of power").

In custody since February 11, 2016.
